Preview Roundups
December 02, 2017
Boston at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers endured a November to remember for all the wrong reasons, capping the month with nine straight losses (0-4-5) while fans at the Wells Fargo Center chanted for coach Dave Hakstol to be fired following the latest setback. The Flyers look to embrace December and quiet the naysayers - including those in their own building - on Saturday afternoon when they host the Boston Bruins.
St. Louis at Minnesota 6:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild will be looking for some payback for a lopsided defeat from a week ago when they host former coach Mike Yeo and the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. The Wild were thrashed in St. Louis 6-3 last Saturday and were ousted by the Blues in a first-round playoff series last season, losing all three games at Xcel Energy Center.
Toronto at Vancouver 7:00 PM ET
Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser has made quite the impression during his short time in the NHL, but the 20-year-old will look to leave his mark on former teammate-turned-adversary in Auston Matthews and the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The two, who were roommates at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships, helped Team USA skate to a bronze medal.
Detroit at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The resurgent Montreal Canadiens look to sweep the home-and-home series and extend their winning streak to five games when they host the struggling Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. The Canadiens have allowed only five goals during their streak - with former Hart Trophy winner Carey Price back in net for all four - after knocking off the Red Wings in Detroit 6-3 on Thursday to climb back to the .500 mark.
San Jose at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Lightning hope to find the spark that led to a red-hot start when they begin a four-game homestand against the surging San Jose Sharks on Saturday. The Lightning have dropped four of their last six contests after earning at least one point in 17 of their first 19 games this season, and they managed just seven goals during a lackluster 1-3-0 road trip that ended with Wednesday’s 3-2 setback at Boston.
Buffalo at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
A victory would be the ultimate accomplishment, but the Buffalo Sabres first would like to halt their lengthy scoring drought when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday for the back end of their home-and-home series. Buffalo suffered a 4-0 loss on Friday in the opener of the set, marking the third straight contest in which it was shut out.
Columbus at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals ran away from the pack in the Metropolitan the past two seasons, but the reigning two-time Presidents' Trophy winners are stuck in the middle as they continue a five-game homestand. Sitting above Washington are the division-leading Columbus Blue Jackets, who pay a visit to the Capitals on Saturday night.
Florida at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers hope to continue their recent success on the road when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Florida has won two straight away from home, scoring a total of eight goals against New Jersey and the New York Rangers on back-to-back nights.
New Jersey at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
The surprising New Jersey Devils look to continue their strong play on the road when they visit the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. The Devils have won three straight away from home after Friday’s 2-1 victory at Colorado and are 9-2-2 overall on the road as they sit one point behind first-place Columbus in the Metropolitan Division after missing the playoffs each of the last five seasons.
Anaheim at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
After having their six-game point streak snapped last time out, the Nashville Predators attempt to begin a new one as they continue their four-game homestand Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks. Nashville was on a 5-0-1 run before suffering a 5-3 loss to Vancouver on Thursday in which it allowed three unanswered third-period goals.
Chicago at Dallas 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars have appeared to find their footing after a slow start to the season and are making a move up the Central Division standings. Winners of three games in a row and five of their last six, the resurgent Stars will look to complete a sweep of the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night in the back end of a home-and-home series.
Edmonton at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers have seen their back end exposed due to injury, as defenseman Adam Larsson was placed on injured reserve on Friday one day after workhorse goaltender Cam Talbot (upper body) traveled that same route as well. The Oilers look to adjust to a lot of moving parts as well as rebound from a late own goal on Saturday when they make the trek to Calgary to face the Flames in the latest installment of the Battle of Alberta.
