Preview Roundups
November 25, 2018
Villanova at Florida State 1:00 PM ET
Villanova has followed a pair of stunning defeats with a couple of comfortable wins at the AdvoCare Invitational. The Wildcats play their final game at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., on Sunday when they take on No. 13 Florida State in the tournament title game.
Mississippi Valley State at Illinois 2:00 PM ET
Illinois will attempt to end a four-game losing streak Sunday afternoon when it returns home from Hawaii to play Mississippi Valley State. The Fighting Illini lost all three games in the Maui Invitational before Thanksgiving, including the seventh-place game against Xavier on the final day of the tournament.
Northwestern at Utah 2:00 PM ET
After playing poorly in the opening round of the Wooden Legacy, both Northwestern and Utah were able to bounce back with performances more in line with what was expected from them entering the event. The Wildcats and Utes attempt to put their best foot forward despite playing their third game in four days on Sunday, when they square off in the fifth-place game of the eight-team tournament in Fullerton, Calif.
Rice at Wichita St. 3:00 PM ET
Wichita State finally got the breakout performance it had been waiting for from freshman Dexter Dennis, but it wasn’t enough as the Shockers lost 90-86 to Alabama last Sunday in the fifth-place game of the Charleston Classic. The Shockers return home after a week off to meet Rice on Sunday afternoon, playing at Charles Koch Arena for the first time since their season opening loss to Louisiana Tech on Nov. 6.
Oklahoma State at Louisiana State 4:00 PM ET
Oklahoma State had a first-row seat to watch a championship team play Friday in its semifinal matchup of the AdvoCare Invitational. The Cowboys conclude their trip to Lake Buena Vista, Fla., on Sunday when they face No. 21 LSU in the third-place game.
Oregon St. at Long Beach St. 5:00 PM ET
Oregon State looks to build on a successful trip to the Virgin Islands when the Beavers continue nonconference play Sunday against visiting Long Beach State. Forward Tres Tinkle has posted a double-double in four straight games for the Beavers, who sandwiched a loss to Missouri with wins over Old Dominion and Penn at last week’s Paradise Jam tournament.
Memphis at Charleston 6:30 PM ET
Memphis has alternated wins and losses in its first five games, but the team hopes to end that pattern Sunday. The Tigers look to post back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they face Charleston in the fifth-place game of the AdvoCare Invitational at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Cal. State - Bakersfield at Southern California 7:00 PM ET
USC returns home for a stretch of three games in seven days starting Sunday against Cal State Bakersfield, which opened the season with a narrow five-point loss to TCU. Trojans forward Bennie Boatwright was named to last week’s NABC Hall of Fame Classic all-tournament team after averaging 18 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Texas Tech and Missouri State.
Miami-Florida at Seton Hall 10:30 PM ET
Myles Powell has carried Seton Hall's offense on his shoulders all month long, but the high-scoring junior guard may need a bit more help from his teammates if the squad hopes to tackle its next challenge. Miami hopes to corral the nation's seventh-leading scorer and move to 6-0 for the second straight season when it takes on former Big East rival Seton Hall on Sunday in the championship game of the Wooden Legacy in Fullerton, Calif.
