Preview Roundups
November 10, 2018
Maryland - E. Shore at NC State 12:00 PM ET
North Carolina State looks to improve to 2-0 on the season as it hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore as part of the Wolfpack Classic. NC State opened its 2018-19 season in dominant fashion on Tuesday night by blowing out Mount St. Mary’s 105-55.
No.Carolina A&T at Wake Forest 2:00 PM ET
Wake Forest tips off its 2018-19 season as it welcomes North Carolina A&T on Saturday afternoon. The Demon Deacons finished a disappointing 11-20 - including 4-14 in ACC action - last season and lost several key contributors in the offseason, but the future is bright in Winston-Salem, N.C., because of an exciting recruiting class.
Alabama A&M at Houston 3:00 PM ET
Houston will lean on its experienced backcourt when the Cougars open the season Saturday against visiting Alabama A&M. Senior Corey Davis Jr. is poised to become the Cougars' go-to scorer while junior Armoni Brooks and senior Galen Robinson Jr. will provide leadership for several new faces.
Wyoming at Oregon St. 3:00 PM ET
Oregon State needed a 14-0 run midway through the second half to overcome a lethargic start and pull away for a tougher-than-expected 72-59 victory over visiting UC Riverside in its season opener. Expect a more focused effort by the Beavers when they host Wyoming on Saturday afternoon.
Western Michigan at Mississippi 4:00 PM ET
The Kermit Davis era begins Saturday for Ole Miss as the Rebels host Western Michigan of the Mid-American Conference in their season opener. Davis, who played two seasons with rival Mississippi State, returns to the SEC after 16 seasons patrolling the sidelines for Middle Tennessee, whom he led to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Oklahoma State at Charlotte 4:00 PM ET
Oklahoma State went 6-6 against Top 25 teams and tied a school record by winning 15 games at home last season under rookie coach Mike Boynton, but it was the team's performance against everyone else and everywhere else that kept it out of the Big Dance. The Cowboys will try to right those wrongs beginning Saturday when they visit Charlotte.
Bethune-Cookman at Marquette 4:00 PM ET
Generally known as one of the top offensive units in the country, Marquette will look to build off an incredible defensive effort in its season-opening victory when it hosts Bethune-Cookman on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles held Maryland-Baltimore County to 22.6 percent shooting in Tuesday's 67-42 victory, the lowest for an opponent in Steve Wojciechowski’s five years as Marquette coach and the lowest for the program since 2004.
Evansville at Xavier 4:00 PM ET

After losing three star players from last year’s NCAA Tournament top-seeded squad, Xavier dipped into the transfer ranks for three accomplished veterans. The trio stepped up in an opening-night win over IUPUI and will look for a second straight win when Evansville visits Saturday.

South Carolina State at Tulsa 4:30 PM ET
Sterling Taplin's talents were recognized when he was named to the preseason All-American Athletic Conference second team but his leadership skills could be just as important as Tulsa hosts South Carolina State on Saturday. The senior guard recorded team highs of 16 points -- 12 in the second half -- and five assists as the Golden Hurricane defeated Alcorn State 73-56 in their season opener Tuesday but he also served as a calming influence.
Southern at Baylor 6:00 PM ET
A three-game run against Southwestern Athletic Conference opposition to open the season was supposed to be just what Baylor needed to get off to a quick start and build some chemistry after losing its top four scorers from last season to graduation. Instead, the Bears hope they can recover from their first season-opening loss since the 2005-06 campaign when they host Southern on Saturday in first-round action of the Emerald Coast Classic.
Central Conn. St. at Georgetown 6:00 PM ET
After enjoying a college debut that made even Patrick Ewing proud, all that is left for freshman Josh LeBlanc is to do it again in Georgetown's non-conference game Saturday against visiting Central Connecticut State. LeBlanc registered 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Hoyas, who will meet the Blue Devils for the first time, beat Maryland-Eastern Shore in their opener.
Morehead St. at Syracuse 7:00 PM ET
Syracuse's defense was in midseason form in the season opener, but its offense has a ways to go. The 14th-ranked Orange seek a crisper all-around performance Saturday when Morehead State visits the Carrier Dome.
Miami (OH) at Butler 7:00 PM ET

Butler is one of eight schools to win at least one game in four consecutive NCAA Tournaments. The Bulldogs’ attempt to extend that streak begins Saturday when they open the 2018-19 season against Miami (Ohio).

Holy Cross at Michigan 7:30 PM ET

No. 18 Michigan looks to flex its defensive muscles when it hosts Holy Cross on Saturday. The Wolverines, who finished sixth nationally in scoring defense in 2017-18, held Norfolk State to 30.5 percent shooting en route to a 63-44 season-opening win which handed John Beilein his 800th career coaching victory, and they hope to continue their winning ways by defeating the Crusaders for the fourth straight time.

Ball St. at Purdue 8:00 PM ET
No. 22 Purdue will face a more formidable opponent Saturday night when it hosts Ball State in a game between Indiana teams. Senior guard Carsen Edwards showed why he's one of the nation's top players in the Boilermakers' opener, scoring 30 points in a 90-57 blowout of Fairfield.
Quinnipiac at Villanova 8:00 PM ET
After posting a crisp 100 points in its season opener, No. 8 Villanova continues non-league action as it hosts Quinnipiac on Saturday. The defending national champions have won 12 games in a row dating to last season and must make sure not to look ahead to Wednesday's NCAA Tournament title game rematch with Michigan.
Texas Southern at Gonzaga 10:00 PM ET
Fourth-ranked Gonzaga recorded its highest point total in more than 24 years in its season opener and strives for another productive outing when it hosts Texas Southern on Saturday. The Bulldogs crushed Idaho State 120-79 on Tuesday for the fifth-most points in school history and their top output since a 121-85 victory over Loyola Marymount in 1994.
