Preview Roundups
October 25, 2017
Denver at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
Nikola Jokic finally broke through on the offensive end for the Denver Nuggets and he'll try to stay hot when they open a four-game road trip at the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. Jokic is being relied upon to carry much of the scoring load this season but opened the campaign with a total of seven points on 3-of-13 shooting through two games.
Minnesota at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Timberwolves will try to rebound from an ugly home loss when they visit the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Two days after an impressive win at Oklahoma City, the Timberwolves returned home to sustain a 130-107 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, allowing the Pacers to shoot a franchise-record 66.7 percent from the floor and getting outscored 69-46 after halftime.
Houston at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia 76ers secured their first win on Monday after three loses to start the season as Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid stepped up and showed off the wide range of their talents. The 76ers are still waiting for another prodigious talent, Markelle Fultz, to do the same and hope to have him on the court when they host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Cleveland at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
LeBron James is expected to make his second consecutive start at point guard when the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. James started at the point in place of the injured Derrick Rose (ankle) on Tuesday and contributed 34 points and 13 assists as Cleveland recorded a 119-112 win over Chicago.
San Antonio at Miami 8:00 PM ET
The San Antonio Spurs have not yet needed MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard, who remains out while dealing with right quadriceps tendinopathy. The Spurs will try to stay undefeated when they kick off a four-game road trip by visiting the Miami Heat, who will be missing one of their stars as well, on Wednesday.
Indiana at Oklahoma City 8:00 PM ET
Paul George faces his former organization for the first time since his acrimonious departure when the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. George was a four-time All-Star in his seven seasons with the Pacers but requested a trade during the summer and now is teammates with Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony in Oklahoma City.
Memphis at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Dallas Mavericks are the lone remaining winless team in the Western Conference and have the misfortune of going up against one of the few teams that remains undefeated when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday in the first of a back-to-back, home-and-home set. The Mavericks are being outscored by an average of 14.3 points and were crushed 133-103 at home by the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Monday.
Utah at Phoenix 10:00 PM ET
The Phoenix Suns are an organization in turmoil, but aim to win their second consecutive game when they host the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Coach Earl Watson was fired after three defeats to open the season and disgruntled guard Eric Bledsoe is no longer part of the team, but some joy was found when Phoenix posted a 117-115 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday.
Toronto at Golden State 10:30 PM ET
After an uneven start to the season, the Golden State Warriors finally started looking like the defending champions in a 133-103 thrashing of the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. The Warriors will try to maintain that level of play when they host the host the Toronto Raptors in the opener of a three-game homestand on Wednesday.
Washington at L.A. Lakers 10:30 PM ET
The Washington Wizards look to open 4-0 for the first time in 39 years when they continue a four-game road trip at the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. The Wizards are the only Eastern Conference team without a loss after beginning their trip with a 109-104 win at Denver, riding 83 points from a starting five that has found an early rhythm.
