Preview Roundups
April 18, 2017
Chi. White Sox at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Riding their longest winning streak in nearly five years, the New York Yankees look to remain perfect on their nine-game homestand when they continue a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. New York has won eight in a row and started 7-0 at home for the first time since 1998, when it won 114 games on the way to a World Series title.
Boston at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays will be hoping a day off provides some therapeutic value as they prepare to wrap up a nine-game homestand with the first of three games against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. The reeling Blue Jays dropped eight of their last nine games and own the worst record in the majors at 2-10.
Baltimore at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Known primarily for their explosive offense and home run-happy ways, the Baltimore Orioles have quietly received four straight quality starts from their pitchers. The Orioles would love to extend that streak as struggling Ubaldo Jimenez looks to work himself out of his early-season troubles on Tuesday when the club concludes a nine-game road trip with the opener of a three-game interleague series versus the Cincinnati Reds.
Detroit at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
Michael Fulmer won American League Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 and is showing no early signs of a sophomore slump. Fulmer will make his third start as the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers continue their nine-game road trip with a visit to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game set.
Philadelphia at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
After stumbling down the stretch in each of their last three games, the New York Mets look to regain their footing against a foe that they've dominated over the last two-plus seasons. New York will aim to reignite its offense on Tuesday when it begins a nine-game homestand with the opener of a three-game set versus the Philadelphia Phillies.
Washington at Atlanta 7:35 PM ET
Bryce Harper has a long way to go to move past his disappointing 2016 campaign, but the former National League MVP is off to a good start for the Washington Nationals, who open a three-game road series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Harper, who hit just .243 last season, slugged two homers – including a walk-off shot – in Sunday’s 6-4 victory over Philadelphia and is 9-for-23 with eight RBIs and seven runs scored in his last six contests.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

The cold April wind at Wrigley Field hasn’t slowed down the Milwaukee Brewers’ powerful offense. The Brewers clubbed three home runs in winning the opener of their three-game series against the host Chicago Cubs, which continues Tuesday.

LA Angels at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels are struggling to score runs as they endure a six-game losing streak. The Angels will try to snap out of the funk and even the four-game series at one win apiece when they visit the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
Cleveland at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins have already found a formula two weeks into the season - score three or more runs and come away with the win. The Twins will try to bounce back from a pair of losses and put some runs on the board when they host the Cleveland Indians in the second of a four-game series on Tuesday.
San Francisco at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
Four-time All-Star catcher Buster Posey is expected to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday as the San Francisco Giants return to Kansas City for the first time since the 2014 World Series to begin a two-game interleague series with the Royals. Posey, who was beaned by a fastball in a game against Arizona on April 10, will likely serve as the team's designated hitter as he eases his way back into action.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals hope they have begun to put their early-season troubles behind them as they attempt to knock off the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates for the second straight night on Tuesday. The Cardinals posted a 2-1 triumph in the opener of the three-game set on Monday to improve their National League-worst record to 4-9.
Texas at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
One day after the Texas Rangers ended their three-game losing streak, the Oakland Athletics will attempt to halt their four-game slide when they host the middle contest of their three-game series on Tuesday. Oakland had a chance to regroup when its game against Houston on Sunday was rained out, but it managed only three hits in suffering a 7-0 loss in the opener.
Colorado at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies are trying to assert themselves as National League West contenders and can take another step in that direction when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday for the opener of a two-game series. The Rockies have ridden a hot bullpen to a 9-5 start and are tied for first place with Arizona - two games ahead of the Dodgers.
Miami at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners have overcome a sluggish start and attempt to record their fifth consecutive victory when they host the Miami Marlins on Tuesday for the second contest of their three-game series. The Mariners took the opener 6-1 on Monday and have allowed fewer than two runs three times during the winning streak that followed a 2-8 start.
Arizona at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The schedule-maker did the San Diego Padres no favors this month, with 18 of their 27 games on the road and just one off-day. The sleep-deprived Padres head home Tuesday to begin a three-game series against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks, who salvaged a split of their four-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday on Jake Lamb’s tie-breaking homer in the eighth inning.
