Kansas City at Minnesota 1:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins go into the second game of the season with a win already in their pocket for the first time since 2008 when they host the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon. The Twins, who began 2016 with nine consecutive losses, rallied for six runs in the seventh inning to roll past the Royals 7-1 on Monday in the opener for both teams.
Chi. Cubs at St. Louis 1:45 PM ET
After providing some late-inning drama in each of the first two games of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs have a matinee encore lined up for Wednesday. The Cardinals host the rival Cubs in the rubber match of their three-game set after each has claimed a one-run win to begin the series.
Detroit at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
Two pitchers looking for better results in 2017 square off Wednesday when the Chicago White Sox host the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers took Tuesday's contest 6-3 after the scheduled opener was rained out on Monday.
Miami at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Adam Eaton provided the spark Monday the Washington Nationals envisioned when they acquired the center fielder last winter, and Eaton hopes to build on a stellar opening-day performance when the Nationals host the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Washington paid a hefty price in trading several top prospects to the White Sox for Eaton, but the 28-year-old finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored in Monday’s 4-2 victory.
Toronto at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
It didn't look like Mark Trumbo would return to Baltimore in 2017 as he tested the free-agent waters during the offseason but after the Orioles re-signed him to a three-year, $37.5 million contract, he's already paying dividends. Baltimore tries to make it two straight over Toronto when it hosts the Blue Jays on Wednesday after Trumbo's home run in the 11th inning lifted the Orioles to a 3-2 victory Monday.
Atlanta at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The fact Bartolo Colon makes his first start of 2017 at New York’s Citi Field is not surprising, but the oldest player in the majors will be wearing a different uniform when the Mets host the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. Colon, who turns 44 in May, won 44 games while making 95 starts in three seasons with the Mets before signing a one-year deal with the Braves in the offseason.
NY Yankees at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The New York Yankees got big-time production from the bottom third of the batting order to win their first of the season and hope to get the rest of the lineup going when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday for the rubber match of a three-game set. Seventh-place hitter Chase Headley belted a solo homer and No. 9 Ronald Torreyes had a two-run blast in New York’s 5-0 victory Tuesday.
Philadelphia at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies kicked off their season in impressive fashion, while the Cincinnati Reds suffered through a bit of deja vu. The Reds aim to draw even in the series Wednesday when they host the Phillies in the second of three games this week.
Pittsburgh at Boston 7:10 PM ET
Chris Sale makes his debut for the Boston Red Sox when he toes the rubber in the second of a three-game series with the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Acquired in December from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for for a massive haul of prospects, Sale has been an All-Star in five straight seasons while finishing in the top six in Cy Young Award voting each time.
Cleveland at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Although the Cleveland Indians performed well enough in 2016 to finish a game short of winning their first World Series title since 1948, the Texas Rangers proved to be the one riddle they struggled to solve the most. One day after matching last season's win total against the Rangers, the Indians eye their first road sweep of Texas since 2008 on Wednesday in the finale of their three-game series.
Seattle at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Strong pitching and the long ball have been a recipe for success for the Houston Astros in the first week of the 2017 campaign. Houston attempts to remain unbeaten Wednesday as it continues its season-opening four-game home series against the Seattle Mariners.
Colorado at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies are not typically associated with strong pitching, but their efforts to fortify the worst bullpen in the major leagues last year has paid off nicely so far in manager Bud Black's first season at the helm. Already owning more wins over Milwaukee than they had in all of 2016, the Rockies seek a third straight victory Wednesday as they continue their four-game road series against the Brewers.
San Francisco at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants' bullpen figures to be an ongoing concern this season, but there doesn't seem to be much need to worry about the team's potent offense. One day after recording 15 hits, the Giants continue their season-opening four-game series against the host Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday looking to put together a complete effort.
LA Angels at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels look to ride the momentum of their comeback win to another victory Wednesday as they continue their four-game series against the host Oakland Athletics. Los Angeles trailed 6-4 in the ninth inning Tuesday before Danny Espinosa belted a three-run homer with one out to give the club its first triumph of 2017.
San Diego at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Just two games into the season, the San Diego Padres already have experienced a roller-coaster of emotions. The Padres look to reach some middle ground Wednesday as they continue their four-game series against the host Los Angeles Dodgers, who cruised to a 14-3 victory on Opening Day before hitting into four double plays in Tuesday’s 4-0 loss.
