Brad Marchand scored twice as the Boston Bruins defeated the host Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on Tuesday night at Raleigh, N.C.

Marchand's second goal came 5:23 into the third period, giving the Bruins the lead for the first time. He doubled his season goals total.

The game's first four goals all came on power plays, two for each team.

David Pastrnak scored the first goal for the Bruins. Patrice Bergeron assisted on all three Boston goals.

Boston goalie Jaroslav Halak made 42 saves.

Carolina goalie Scott Darling made his first appearance of the season, stopping 28 shots.

Micheal Ferland and Dougie Hamilton scored for the Hurricanes.

Darling, who sustained a groin injury in the preseason finale, robbed Jake DeBrusk in the first period for his first notable stop of the season. DeBrusk had an uncontested attempt from point-blank range.

Ferland's goal late in the first period marked only the fifth power-play goal in 39 such situations for Carolina this season.

Sebastian Aho's assist on that goal gave him at least one assist in every game. His season-opening 12-game points streak set a franchise record.

In NHL history, only Wayne Gretzky in 1982-83 and Ken Linesman in 1985-86 had streaks that were that long.

Aho has 13 total assists this season.

When Pastrnak scored for the Bruins, who were coming off a shutout loss three nights earlier against Montreal, it came with 8:38 to play in the second period. Pastrnak has a team-high 11 goals. He scored this one when Darling mishandled the initial save and Pastrnak was there to convert.

Defenseman Torey Krug, who was in his season debut after a preseason foot injury, notched an assist on the Pastrnak goal.

Hamilton and Marchand scored in a 69-second span late in the second period.

The Hurricanes ended a three-game homestand and won't return to home ice until Nov. 10. They visit the Arizona Coyotes on Friday. The Bruins play the Predators in Nashville on Saturday to conclude a brief two-game trip.
