Kyle Okposo scored a power-play goal with 61 seconds remaining in the third period to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win against the visiting Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.

Okposo beat Montreal goaltender Antti Niemi with a wrist shot for his second goal of the season, with Rasmus Dahlin and Jeff Skinner registering assists for the Sabres' only lead of the game.

Buffalo's Jason Pominville registered two goals and Skinner finished with three assists. Carter Hutton made 19 saves.

Max Domi scored two goals for the Canadiens. Niemi stopped 38 of 42 Buffalo shots.

Sam Reinhart forged the third tie of the game at 3-3 with his first goal of the season at the 13:07 mark in the third period, getting position in front of the net and converting a feed from Jake McCabe.

Domi had given the Canadiens their last lead of the night with a wrist shot from the deep slot for his fourth goal of the season at 6:34 of the third period.

Pominville's goals bookended a Montreal score to create a 2-2 tie after two periods. His first goal tied the score at 1 with assists from Skinner and McCabe at 11:22 of the second period as he finished off an odd-man rush by shoveling the puck past Niemi at the goal crease.

Joel Armia gave Montreal its second lead of the night with his second goal of the season at 16:08. Hutton left the puck exposed just behind the right post, allowing Armia to gain possession from a wrap-around with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Xavier Ouellet drawing assists.

With Canadiens center Andrew Shaw in the box for holding, Pominville tied the game again with a power-play goal, his fourth of the season, at 17:42. Pominville was credited with the goal after a Buffalo challenge for goaltender interference. He beat Niemi with a quick wrist shot at the side of the net, with Skinner and Casey Mittelstadt earning assists.

Montreal took a 1-0 lead on Domi's third goal of the season at 1:17 of the first period. Sabres defenseman Marco Scandella failed to clear the puck out of the zone, giving Domi the opportunity to beat Hutton over his glove side. Artturi Lehkonen earned the lone assist.
