Backup quarterback Dennis Grosel threw for two fourth-quarter touchdowns Saturday as Boston College knocked off Louisville 34-27 in an Atlantic Coast Conference game at Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Grosel replaced Phil Jurkovec, who was 15 of 19 for 203 yards, after Jurkovec sustained a non-contact knee injury with 6:15 left in the third quarter.

Grosel found CJ Lewis for a one-handed, 11-yard scoring catch with 13:52 remaining, then zipped a 21-yard touchdown pass over the middle to Jehlani Galloway to make it 34-20 with 4:36 to go.

Grosel was 4 of 7 for 44 yards and added a 44-yard run as the Eagles (6-4, 5-4 ACC) sealed a winning season under first-year coach Jeff Hafley.

Cardinals quarterback Malik Cunningham accounted for 427 total yards, completing 19 of 31 passes for 294 yards and rushing for 133 yards on 17 attempts. He threw fourth-quarter TD passes of 4 yards to Tutu Atwell and 69 yards to Dez Fitzpatrick.

However, Cunningham was victimized with 1:42 left, throwing a tipped-ball interception to Shitta Sillah at the Louisville 47 to quash the Cardinals' final drive.

Louisville (3-7, 2-7) needed just over 2 1/2 minutes to get on the board first as James Turner converted a 44-yard field goal. The Cardinals had to drive only 27 yards thanks to a 44-yard kickoff return by Hassan Hall.

Boston College took its first lead with 47 seconds left in the first quarter, taking advantage of an Atwell fumble that set gave the Eagles possession at the Louisville 48. David Bailey covered the last 8 yards on a run that made it 7-3.

Aaron Boumerhi booted a 23-yard field goal with 6:47 remaining in the first half to up the Eagles' lead to 10-3, but the Cardinals equalized on Jalen Mitchell's 2-yard touchdown run just over three minutes later. Boumerhi made a 27-yard field goal 30 seconds before intermission to make it 13-10 Boston College at halftime.

Bailey's second scoring run, a 1-yarder, increased the Eagles' lead to 20-10 less than 2 1/2 minutes into the third quarter. Turner answered with a 24-yard field goal six minutes later to bring Louisville within seven.
