Andrew Rowsey scored 22 of his 29 points in the first half as second-seeded Marquette took control late in the first quarter and beat third-seeded Oregon 101-92 Sunday in the second round of the NIT at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee.

The Golden Eagles (21-13) will host Penn State in the quarterfinals after the fourth-seeded Nittany Lions knocked off top-seeded Notre Dame on Saturday.

Rowsey hit 7 of 13 shots, matched a season high with six 3-pointers and handed out nine assists. He scored at least 25 points for the 13th time this season and made at least six 3-pointers for the sixth time.

Markus Howard added 18 points for Marquette, which shot 57.6 percent and made 12 of 26 3-point attempts. Greg Elliott contributed 13 while Sacar Anim finished with 12 points for the Golden Eagles.

Marquette tied the school record for points in an NIT game, matching the mark set against Providence in 1967. The Golden Eagles also scored 100 points for the first time since getting 102 in an eight-point win at Creighton on Jan. 21, 2017.

MiKyle McIntosh led the Ducks (23-13) with 25 points. He made 5 of 12 shots and hit 15 of 18 free throws during the most productive game of his career.

Paul White added a career-best 19 points as Oregon lost despite shooting 53.7 percent. Payton Pritchard had 16 points for the Ducks.

Rowsey hit four 3-pointers and scored 13 points as Marquette shot 64.7 percent and held a 30-19 lead after the opening quarter. His three-point play with about three minutes left gave the Golden Eagles their first double-digit lead.

A basket by Theo John gave Marquette its first 20-point lead at 53-33 with 94 seconds left in the second quarter. Sam Hauser hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds for a 58-38 lead at halftime, and the Golden Eagles pushed the lead to 84-62 after the third quarter.

The Ducks made a slight threat as Pritchard scored seven points in a 15-6 run to cut the deficit to 97-86 with 74 seconds left. Pritchard's surge was too late as Elliott iced it with a layup and two free throws.
