DJ Hogg fired in five 3-pointers and scored a team-high 24 points Friday night as No. 16 Texas A&M walloped UC Santa Barbara 84-65 at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas.

Tyler Davis added 14 points and six rebounds in just 25 minutes for the Aggies (2-0), playing their first game since blowing out West Virginia in their season opener last Friday in Germany. Admon Gilder had 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Tonny Trocha-Morelos had 10 points.

Max Heidigger tallied 24 points, going 10-of-12 at the foul line, for the Gauchos (1-2). Gabe Vincent scored 12 and Jalen Canty added 10 points.

Texas A&M never trailed, scoring the game’s first seven points and leading by double figures for the final 32:44. The Aggies took their first double-digit lead 4:56 into the game when Gilder stroked a 3-pointer.

Ahead 46-32 at halftime, Texas A&M got the margin to 20 for the first time with a 3-pointer from Hogg at the 16:18 mark of the second half. Gilder’s two free throws with 8:45 remaining upped the advantage to 75-47 and the Aggies coasted to the finish line.

Texas A&M shot the ball well in every aspect, canning 50 percent of its field goals, 50 percent of its 3-pointers and 13-of-17 at the foul line. By contrast, UCSB hit only 42.6 percent from the floor and was a measly 3-of-17 on 3-pointers.

The Aggies drew 20 assists from 30 field goals. Each team grabbed 35 rebounds.
